Starting next year, Pittsburg residents will have another way to get involved in the future of the community.
At their bi-weekly meeting earlier this week, City Commissioners approved a plan to enact a Neighborhood Advisory Committee in 2024.
At their previous meeting on June 27 commissioners chose to table a vote on the new advisory council to allow time to work out the details. Kim Froman, Pittsburgh Director of Community Development spoke about the changes Tuesday.
“The changes that were made, that we added, equal membership from each of the four quadrants is preferred but not mandatory.
And then we also added in the sentence where it says members will be appointed by the governing body, each member will be a real property owner or tenant, who has been a citizen of the city of Pittsburg for more than one year.”
Residents will be able to apply through the City Clerk in December.
The council will be composed of 12 members appointed by the city commission to represent the four quadrants in the city.
