The Olivier Award-nominated, The Choir Of Man is coming to Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Tuesday January 20 at The Center. Known across the globe as “the ultimate feel-good show,” THE CHOIR OF MAN offers over 90-minutes of non-stop adrenaline-packed powerhouse vocals, hair-raising harmonies, and foot-stomping choreography. The Gordon Parks Museum is marking Martin Luther King Jr’s Birthday with two days of events on Thursday January 15 and Monday January 19th. Events include A Letter from the Birmingham Jail Reading and Lunch on January 15. And a Dockum Drug Store Sit in on January 19th. Each event is open to the public, lunch is provided.
Uptown is visiting the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts on February 13th. Fusing Bruno-Mars-caliber stage presence with top-tier vocals, Uptown combines the stylings of R&B with the fresh hits of today. Uptown at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts Friday February 13.
Fred's southwest Missouri events
The Chilly five K is on the horizon, Thursday January 1st. The race starts at the Joplin Family Y to the new Tin Cup Trail down to Wildcat Glades and finishes along Shoal Creek. That’s the Chilly 5k in Joplin on New Year’s Day in Joplin.
The final night of the 42nd Annual The Way of Salvation Christmas Light Display in Carthage also takes place on New Years Day. Thursday January 1st. Since 1983, the Congregation of the Mother of the Redeemer has offered a beautiful drive-thru light display that is free for all to enjoy, with donations gratefully accepted.
Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean will be performing at the Joplin Little Theater Thursday January 8th through Sunday January 11th. In a small-town dime store in west Texas, the “Disciples of James Dean” gather for their 20th reunion. Now middle-aged women, they were teenagers when Dean filmed “Giant” two decades ago in nearby Marfa. Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.

December 30th, Happy Snappy Art is hosting a Christmas Paint Party for kids at McCune Farm to Market starting at 11 a.m. Each child must be accompanied by a paying adult. Registration is required and costs $30.
Camp Now & Then will be in session in Pittsburg again on December 30th and 31st. It’s open to kids ages 5-12 for games, crafts, sports and other activities from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It costs $25 per child per day.
And January 1st, take part in the First Day Hike at Crawford State Park. The hike will start at 9 a.m. at the Beach Shelter House and follow a 2.3 mile-long trail.
Raegan's southwest Missouri events
December 27th and 28th, the George Washington Carver National Monument is hosting a program called Farmward to the Future. Learn about how Carver used produce from the farm to make industrial products. That starts at 1 p.m. both days.
December 31st, the Keltoi Winery is hosting its second annual Irish New Year. The winery will be open from 1 to 9 p.m. with live music starting at 3. The New Year’s toast will take place at 6 p.m. when New Year’s is celebrated in Dublin.
And January 3rd is the first Bison Saunter of the year at Prairie State Park. It begins at 1 p.m. and is free but registration is required.
