Raegan's southeast Kansas events

January 3rd, you can see the Pitt State Dance and Cheer teams perform their routines for the upcoming national competition in Orlando. The preview performance will start at 8 a.m. at John Lance Arena.

January 8th, join the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce for a Chamber Coffee event at Ron’s Supermarket. That starts at 8 a.m. and will celebrate the grocery store’s 50th anniversary.

And on January 10th at 10 a.m., McKay Street Coffeehouse is hosting a paint and sip event in the community room at the Frontenac Public Library. It costs $30 and registration is required beforehand by messaging Creative Canvas on Facebook.

Raegan's southwest Missouri events

The Ozark Gateway Audubon Society’s Kids’ Winter Bird Count takes place January 3rd. Participants will be led by society members and staff from the Missouri Department of Conservation on a birdwatching hike. It starts at 10 a.m. and lunch will be provided.

The Joplin Public Library’s adult winter reading challenge is still going until the end of January. Complete 5 out of 15 provided reading activities to receive a mug and be entered in a raffle drawing. More details can be found on the library’s website.

And January 11th, see classical pianist Dmitry Shishkin perform at the Cornell Complex in Joplin. The performance is a part of Connect2Culture’s Curtains Up Series. It starts at 2 p.m. and tickets cost $25-$30.

Fred's southeast Kansas events

The Dementia Caregivers Support group is meeting at the Pittsburg Public Library Thursday January 15 starting at 10 am. The ground is facilitated by the KU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month. New participants are always welcome and no registration is required.

The Frontenac public library is hosting an author talk and book signing Saturday January 17 starting at 10 am. The library welcomes southeast Kansas native Jerry Potocnik, author of the The Crows’ Omen. The novel is a blend of suspense, intrigue and deception. Finally,

The craft club for children ages 7 to 11 will get together at the Independence Public Library Thursday January 15 from 4 until 5:30 pm. Everything from hands-on, creative projects like slime, tie-dye, or recycled art — perfect for curious kids who love to make things their own.

The Elks Lodge in Joplin is hosting a breakfast fundraiser for the Joplin Public Library this Saturday January 3rd starting at 8 am. 100% of the profits will go towards the Friends of the JPL. A fundraiser break for the Joplin Public Library at the Elks Lodge in Joplin from 8 to 10 am this Saturday.

And..

The St. Louis Cardinals Caravan is visiting Joplin Saturday January 17 at Missouri Southern State University. Current players, alums and broadcasters take part in a Q & A forum. You’ll also have the chance to get autographs and take photos. The Cardinals Caravan at MSSU Saturday January 17 starting at 11:30 am.

Finally,

Crowder College will hold a ribbon cutting at their new Advanced Training and Workforce Center in Joplin on Monday January 26 at 1:30 pm. The new center will offer accelerated, hands-on career training in high-demand fields like Advanced Manufacturing, Welding, IT, Drafting, and Automotive Tech.
