The Cherokee County Area Bee Keepers will meet Tuesday January 20 from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Columbus Extension Office. Whether you manage multiple hives or are simply curious about bees, this meeting is a great opportunity to share experiences and learn from fellow beekeepers. Pittsburg State University Campus Activities Center is proud to host the third annual campus wide MLK Day of Service, Monday January 19 from 10:30 until 4. The Joplin Empire Market and the Downtown Joplin Alliance will be hosting the 7th Annual Empire Market Chili Cookoff at the Market on January 17. A sewing class at the Carthage public library is on the horizon, Monday January 26 from 5:30 until 7. No sewing experience? No problem! This easy project is perfect for beginners. The Missouri Southern Symphony Orchestra will present its first concert of 2026 on February 7th at 7:30 pm in Taylor Auditorium. The theme of this concert is Contrasts. Raegan's southeast Kansas events

January 11th you can take a cinnamon roll baking class at McCune Farm to Market with Kathy Flora, starting at 2:30 p.m. All materials will be provided. Enroll by calling or texting 620-232-1772. Registration costs $40.

January 15th, the Pittsburg Arts Council is hosting a social to discuss ideas for the upcoming 20th annual ArtWalk. The event is open to anyone with ideas and will start at 6 p.m. at TOAST.

And January 17th, there will be a Red Cross blood drive at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pittsburg. It will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church’s gym.

Raegan's southwest Missouri events

January 8th through 11th, Joplin Little Theatre is performing the play Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. It follows a group of women who gather on the anniversary of James Dean’s death. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. the 8th, 9th and 10th and at 2:30 p.m. on the 11th.

January 10th and 11th, learn about the Jesup Wagon at the George Washington Carver National Monument. The program will discuss Carver’s agricultural school on wheels and start at 1 p.m. both days.

And January 17th, Carthage Parks and Recreation is hosting a Handmade and Vintage Market. Shop a variety of vintage items and handmade crafts from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carthage Memorial Hall.
