Fred southwest Missouri events

The Uplift Film Festival is on the horizon in Webb City. Thursday March 5 through Saturday March 7. The Film Festival features filmmakers of all experience levels who reside in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, as well as filmmakers whose films were made in these southern Midwest states. Creativity Unlimited hosted by the Spiva Center for the Arts at the Cornell Complex instructed by Jade Henning-Cantrell is happening Saturday February 28 starting at 11:45. The Bourbon County Community Theatre is hosting their 3rd Annual Adult Prom Mardi Gras Masquerade Fundraiser Saturday February 21 starting at 8 pm. The event includes a live DJ, prom photos and snacks on the upper floor of Sharky's in Fort Scott. Formal or masquerade attire welcome! This is an 18 and over event.

Beauty and the Beast Jr by Pittsburg Community Middle School is scheduled for Thursday March 5th and Friday March 6th. The classic narrative centers on Belle, a young woman from a small town, and the Beast, who is actually a youthful prince living under the curse of a sorceress. The national touring company of Chicago is coming to the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts Wednesday April 29. From Mexico City, São Paulo to South Africa, Chicago has wowed audiences everywhere. That’s Chicago for one night only at Pittsburg State’s Bicknell Center Wednesday April 29.

Raegan's southeast Kansas events

Triple Threat Threeatrics is performing the Addams Family Musical at Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg. The show will start at 7 p.m. February 19th through the 21st and at 2 p.m. on the 22nd. Tickets can be bought beforehand at pittks.org/memorial.

February 23rd, the Pittsburg Public Library is hosting the first of three events in a Health and Wellness Series. Led by Katherine Pinto of K-State Research and Extension, the first session will cover the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. That starts at 5 p.m. on the 23rd.

And February 26th, learn about bird evolution and their connection to dinosaurs with the Sperry-Galligar Audubon. That presentation will start at 7 p.m. in Yates Hall on the Pitt State campus.

Raegan's southwest Missouri events

February 20th, see comedians Kevin Farley and Jody Fuller at the 10th annual Comedy for Camp and S’more. The show will be at the Cornell Complex in Joplin at 7:30 p.m. and benefit several programs run by Soroptimist International of Joplin.

February 22nd is the Ozark Festival Orchestra’s Young Artists Concert. Four young musicians from the area will perform as soloists with the orchestra starting at 3 p.m. The concert will be at Monett High School.

And the Joplin Public Library’s book for Joplin Reads Together is The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Participants are invited to read the book and take part in a series of events, which will start on April 1st.
