Celebrate two historical highways that converge in Joplin - the Jefferson Highway and Route 66.
Hosted by the Jefferson Highway Association and in partnership with the Route 66 Association of Missouri, the event takes a step back in time to feature the history of both routes with all-day activities.Crossroads of America Centennial Celebration Friday, September 11.

Paint the town green and gold is on the way at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, wrapping up Saturday, October 10, with the Lions Homecoming game at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. A community spirit initiative inviting organizations to showcase their Lion pride. MSSU's Paint the Town Green and Gold starting September 16.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO, invites you to a musical concert “Faith, Freedom, and Our Nation Under God” September 20 at 3:30 pm. Free and open to all, the event features a variety of vocal and instrumental performances—including solos, duets, and choir selections. Little Balkans weekend is on the horizon, running Thursday, September 3 through Sunday, September 6. The Celebrate Pittsburg Committee is holding the event to mark Pittsburg's sesquicentennial. The third annual Pittsburg State Hispanic Music Festival is coming up Tuesday, September 15. High school choirs from across Southeast Kansas and Southwest Missouri will perform in this collaborative festival experience. Hispanic composers will then join together with 200 voices for a final piece that concludes the program. The event will be held at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts. That's September 15.

Mark your calendar and make a drive up to the Kansas Book Festival taking place at Washburn University Saturday, September 26 in Topeka. Spend the day browsing books and popping into panels from your favorite authors on everything from fantasy to history deep dives, all completely free. Raegan's southwest Missouri events
September 5th is another Downtown Clean Team event in Joplin. Volunteers will meet at Joplin Avenue Coffee Company at 9 a.m. and disperse to clean certain areas of the downtown district. Sign up at downtownjoplin.com.
Also on September 5th, the Joplin Public Library is hosting a yoga class taught by Sarah Kelly. It’s free and open to participants of all experience levels. That starts at 10 a.m.
And September 5th and 6th, participate in Casting a Legacy at the George Washington Carver National Monument. The ranger-led program will explore commemorative artwork along a walking trail. That starts at 1 p.m. both days.
Raegan's southeast Kansas events
September 3rd through 6th, the City of Pittsburg is hosting a number of events for Little Balkans Weekend. There’ll be a pancake breakfast, pickleball tournament and the annual quilt show. See the full schedule of events at pittks.org/events.
September 5th is the annual book sale held by the Friends of the Pittsburg Public Library. It will be in the library’s courtyard from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
And Rocklahoma is celebrating its 20th year. The music festival will run from September 4th through 6th in Pryor, Oklahoma, with the headliners Godsmack, Papa Roach and Slayer. See the full lineup at rocklahoma.com.
