Finally,
Pittsburg turns 150 this year and Pittsburg State's Axe Library is celebrating with a very special DeGruson Lecture on
Thursday, October 29 starting at 7:00pm. The library is hosting four local history experts to speak about Pittsburg's
lively and unique past. Bring your local history questions and stay for snacks and conversation
following the lecture. The event is free and open to all. That's Thursday October 29 at 7 pm.
Raegan's southwest Missouri events
October 10th is the 10th annual North Heights Porchfest in Joplin. Starting at 11 a.m., there’ll be live music throughout the neighborhood, as well as food trucks and other vendors. See the full schedule at northheightsporchfest.com.
Also October 10th is the Joplin NAACP’s Freedom Fund Jazz Brunch. There’ll be live music, food and speakers starting at 11 a.m. at the Elk’s Lodge. See the Joplin NAACP’s Facebook page for ticket information.
And October 18th is the Ozark Festival Orchestra Fall Concert. The concert is titled America 250: Heritage from the Heartland. That starts at 3 p.m. at Monett High School. Purchase tickets at ozarkfestivalorchestra.org.
Raegan's southeast Kansas events
October 10th, Fort Scott High School Thespians is hosting the Royals Tea & Friends Party. Children are invited to make crafts, have treats and play games with their favorite characters. That starts at 10 a.m. at Fort Scott High School. Tickets can be bought at the door.
Also October 10th, celebrate Oktoberfest with Drop the H Brewing Company in Pittsburg. There’ll be German charcuterie and craft beer available, as well as traditional Bavarian music starting at 7 p.m.
And October 16th is the Southeast Kansas Humane Society’s Spooktacular event at Kansas Crossing Casino. There’ll be live music, comedy, a costume contest, bingo and more starting at 6 p.m. Tickets can be bought on the humane society’s website or at The Doggie Bag.
