"Sylvia" by A.R. Gurney
summary: Greg and Kate have moved back to Manhattan after 22yrs in the suburbs. Greg's career is winding down, while Kate's career is ramping up, and she reconnects with old friends. One day, Greg brings home a dog he found in the park- - - bearing only the name "Sylvia" on her tag. A street-smart mix of Lab and Poodle, she offers Greg, an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age. Greg and Sylvia enjoy their time in the park, where they meet new friends. However Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. Kate thinks Sylvia is a rival and Greg thinks Kate doesn't understand the relationship between a man and his dog. After a series of hilarious and touching complications, the marriage is put in serious jeopardy.
