While driving down an East Texas country road I spotted this scene. The autumn trees and the late afternoon sun made these golden bales of hay shine just a little bit more. Fortunately I had my camera with me. (c) James Q. Eddy Jr.

Joplin Story Slam

A slam is a public event for anyone to tell a personal story based on a theme. The theme for this month is “On the Road.” Themes are totally up to the teller’s interpretation, which is part of the fun! The story may be up to 5 minutes long. The story must have actually happened to the teller or the teller must have been present during the experience.

The top three storytellers will win bragging rights AND a handmade, one-of-a-kind trophy. Judges will be a randomly chosen panel of audience members.

Tellers and audience members are needed for the slam!

For more information or free coaching, email sgodsey2@gmail.com or come to the JOMO Area Story Swap at the Joplin Public Library on May 17 at 2:00.
