While driving down an East Texas country road I spotted this scene. The autumn trees and the late afternoon sun made these golden bales of hay shine just a little bit more. Fortunately I had my camera with me. (c) James Q. Eddy Jr.

Judy Stiles: "Newsmakers Rewind" Author Discussion

For nearly 35 years, Judy Stiles hosted and produced Newsmakers, the weekly half-hour interview program on Missouri Southern State University’s KGCS-TV, recording more than 1,800 programs with over 3,300 guests. Her debut book, Newsmakers Rewind: History on TV, revisits some of those conversations and the moments in local history they captured. You’ll hear from congressmen beginning with Gene Taylor, state lawmakers beginning with Richard Webster, Joplin mayors including Donald Clark, actor Dennis Weaver, national and regional journalists, local World War II veterans, and the people who shaped Missouri Southern, from its buildings and programs to its athletes.

Join us on Nov. 14 at 1:00pm (museum visit) and 2:00pm (author talk) as Judy shares stories from the book and from a career the Regional Media Hall of Fame honored in 2024. Admission is $10/adult, $5/child 6-12, and free to members, and includes a museum tour.

As Judy puts it, “Everyone has a story to share,” and we hope you’ll come hear a few of hers.
