The Fourth of July is coming up fast, speaking of fast, sign up for the Stars and Stripes 5K taking place at Pittsburg State's Carney Smith stadium Saturday July 4 starting at 8 am. The race is operated by the southeast Kansas based Runner's Collective. The Stars and Stripes 5k at Carney Smith stadium starting at 8 am.

The Four State Farm show at Pittsburg State is almost here. Friday July 10 through Sunday July 12. Indoor exhibits will be in the Robert W. Plaster Center. Outdoor exhibits also will be on display. Free parking and admission. The Four State Farm show starting Friday July 10.
Finally,
Pittsburg State and the Kelce College of Business will host a ribbon cutting for their new facility in downtown Pittsburg, Tuesday August 11. Located in the heart of the business community at Third and Broadway, the new home for Kelce College will include room for programs that positively impact the business community as well as students. The ribbon cutting takes place on August 11.
Fred's southwest Missouri events
Celebrate Native American culture Thursday July 2 by learning about the powwow. The American Indian Center of Springfield will present traditional dances that may be found at powwows and how Native American children participate in their heritage. The event is held at the Joplin Public Library July 2.

You don't want to miss Carver Day will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This year commemorates the 83rd anniversary of George Washington Carver’s passing and the subsequent establishment of the National Park on July 14, 1943, the first one to honor an African American. Carver day in Diamond, Missouri July 11.

The annual balloon festival in Joplin will be here before you know it taking place Friday August 8 through Sunday August 30. Missouri Southern State University in Joplin is hosting the three day event, gates will open at 7 am every day. The family friendly event will feature more than a dozen hot air balloons. Joplin's balloon festival starts August 8.

June 20th, In the Garden in Pittsburg is hosting its monthly 4th Street Market. Shop crafts, baked goods, clothing, handmade jewelry and more from local vendors. That’s the 4th Street Market from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the 20th.
Join the Pittsburg Public Library for a special Summer Reading Program on June 25th, with a performance by StoneLion Puppet Theatre. The performance will be at Memorial Auditorium and start at 6 p.m. on the 25th. It’s free and open to children and families.
And June 27th, the Southeast Kansas Humane Society is engraving pet I.D. tags for free. Get a personalized tag for your pet at the Doggie Bag in Pittsburg from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Raegan's southwest Missouri events
June 20th is the “Drive for a Cause” Community Car Show in Neosho, benefitting Faithful Friends Animal Advocates. There’ll also be live music, food trucks and other vendors. That’s June 20th starting at 10 a.m. at Flagship Auto.
There will be a blood drive for the American Red Cross at the Joplin Public Library on June 24th. You can donate blood from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library’s community room. Visit redcrossblood.org and enter LIBRARY to schedule an appointment.
And June 27th is the annual Liberty Celebration hosted by Connect2Culture and Liberty Utilities. See the Grand Ol’ Americana Show at the Cornell Complex and enjoy food trucks, lawn games and fireworks. That starts at 7 p.m. on the 27th.
