Raegan's southeast Kansas events

July 18th, see Young Frankenstein at the Colonial Fox Theatre in Pittsburg. The showing is part of the theater’s outdoor summer movie series. Concessions will be available for purchase starting at 8 p.m. and the movie will start around 9. Tickets cost $5.

Special Olympics Kansas is looking for volunteers for the upcoming regional bowling tournament in Pittsburg. It’s set for July 22nd and 23rd. Sign up information can be found at soks.org/event.

And July 24th is the Pittsburg Public Library’s Summer Reading Program finale. The event will feature musical performer Dino O’Dell and start at 2 p.m. at the St. John’s Activity Center.

Raegan's southwest Missouri events

July 18th is the Joplin Public Library’s summer reading ending celebration. It will be in the library’s community room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy crafts, popcorn, live music, face painting and more.

July 18th is also Art Night Out at the Spiva Center in Joplin. Explore the galleries, enjoy desserts and drinks and make two crafts. Individual tickets cost $20 and couples tickets cost $35. That starts at 6:30 on the 18th.

And the JOMO Jammin’ Music Festival is set for July 24th and 25th. Performances from local and regional musicians start at 7 p.m. both nights at the Cornell Complex.

Fred's southeast Kansas events

Join Pittsburg State at Carnie Smith Stadium Thursday July 30 for a community Movie Night featuring the 2025 movie , Superman. Enjoy food trucks, drinks, and superhero action under the stars. Open to Pitt State students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. That's July 30th. Gates open at 8:30 p.m., and the movie begins at dark!

Also, 

Pittsburg State and the Kelece College of Business will host a ribbon cutting for their new facility in downtown Pittsburg, Tuesday August 11. The new home for Kelce College will include room for programs that positively impact the business community as well as students. The ribbon cutting takes place on August 11.

Finally,

Tee off for a great cause Tuesday August 11. Join Pittsburg State's University's School of Construction for their 27th Annual Alumni Association Pittsburg Golf Classic. Tournament proceeds help provide scholarships and enhance educational opportunities for students. The event takes place August 11.

Fred's southwest Missouri events

The Joplin Empire Market is holding their pepper fest Saturday August 8 starting at 10 am. Market Cantina, featuring tasty mocktails, Mexican beers, and spritzes!! all drink sales will benefit the Area Agency on Aging! Also Fresh Pepper Roasting from Oakwoods Farm! Pepper fest in Joplin on August 8.

The Centennial Route 66 Annual Balloon Festival takes place Friday August 28 through Sunday August 30 at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. The three-day family-friendly festival features more than a dozen hot air balloons, a kite show, helicopter rides, tethered balloon rides, food trucks, a vendor marketplace and live music. JOMO Pridefest 2026 - Pride on Route 66 gets underway Friday September fourth through Sunday September 6th. They'll be a Route 66 pride parade on Friday September 4.
