Bush-Era Drilling Lease Sales Voided In Utah
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has canceled scores of oil and gas leases sold by the Bush administration in Utah's red rock country. The sales would have brought $6 million to the government, in addition to royalties on any oil or gas production.

PSU Becomes First Four-Year University in Kansas to Confer AA Degrees
It’s an attempt by the university to help stem the tide of declining enrollment, not only at PSU but at universities throughout the US. In the fall of 2022, months after the Kansas Board of Regents hired PSU President Dan Shipp, the university announced a 2.6% decline or a combined enrollment decrease of over 15% in the last five years.

Minimum-wage workers in 22 states will be getting raises on Jan. 1
While that's great news for the almost 10 million workers affected, 20 other states still pay minimum-wage workers the federal rate of $7.25 an hour.
Coal-Burning Power Plant To Give New Life To Texas Oil Field
About 1.6 million tons of carbon dioxide will be captured annually from a coal-burning power plant near Houston. Then the CO2 will be injected into a nearby oil field to help boost crude production.
