Missouri Supreme Court weighs who can appeal on state health regulations
After a Cole County judge invalidated the regulations in 2021, then-Attorney General Eric Schmitt decided not to appeal the case. Local governments, which had used their authority granted by the regulations to issue pandemic-era restrictions such as mask mandates, want the right to defend them in court.

Missouri could begin construction to expand I-70 as soon as next month, MoDOT says
The drafted timeline for I-70 construction would start in August, on the stretch of highway between Columbia and Kingdom City moving east-bound, and complete in 2030. Missouri's latest budget allocated $2.8 billion to the project, the largest on the interstate since it opened.
Wash U scientists build cyclone-fueled coronavirus detection machine
Wash U researchers have developed a microwave-size box that uses electrodes and a “wet cyclone” to detect coronavirus particles in the air within five minutes. The scientists say the prototype could be fitted to detect other pathogens and bacteria, as well.
Local transportation officials concerned about safety on I-44 after Parson vetoes 28 million dollars
On June 30th, Governor Mike Parson vetoed $550 million in the state’s budget for the next fiscal year. $28 million of that was earmarked for improvements to Interstate 44 in the Springfield area.

Corporations are buying up Kansas City homes, and it's making things more expensive for everyone
This is the second time in five years that property owners in Jackson County have seen dramatic leaps in the county’s assessment of their home’s value. One big reason is that more out-of-state investors are purchasing Kansas City homes to flip them or rent them out — shrinking the supply and increasing prices.
Missouri commission approves $1.4 billion in funding for I-70 expansion
Included in the budget passed by lawmakers this session and signed by Gov. Mike Parson in June was around $2.8 billion to expand I-70 to three lanes in each direction. On Wednesday, commissioners approved the first steps of acquiring that money.
