Later this week, ProMusica Joplin will host its second performance of its 2022 - 2023 schedule. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
The classical and choral-oriented non-profit is a month away from hosting its first performance at its new home, the Cornell Complex.
This Thursday at First Presbyterian Church at 509 Pearl Ave in Joplin ProMusica welcomes Grammy-nominated, New York-based PUBLIQuartet at 7 pm. Emlyn Johnson, Executive Director of ProMusica, says that if you enjoy classical music reinterpreted, then you'll love PUBLIQuartet.
"So what's really cool about PUBLIQuartet is again their finding this balance between a traditional classical repertoire and their own reinterpretation of classical music. They do a lot of improvisation; they have a lot of elements of jazz, soul, and funk in their music as well."
On November 4, just days before the first concert at the Cornell Complex, ProMusic Joplin will host their only ticketed event this season and welcome the Vienna Boys Choir at Central Christian Church in Joplin. PUBLIQuartet's concert this Thursday is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted. For more information, visit ProMusica.org. For 89 9 KRPS, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro
