Midterm elections are now just eight days away, and Democrat Mark Holland is looking to unseat two-term Republican Senator Jerry Moran. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
According to a poll conducted last month by Emerson College and published on fivethiryeight.com, Jerry Moran has a 12-point advantage over Mark Holland, 45 to 33%.
Moran’s 12 percentage point lead over Holland is an improvement for the Democrat and former Kansas City, Kansas mayor. Another mid-August poll had Holland trailing the incumbent Moran by as many as 21 percent.
According to Holland, if he wins election next month, it wouldn’t be the first time that Kansans surprised pollsters and pundits.
“On August 2nd, Kansas shocked the world, but folks coming out in large numbers to protect women’s rights. We had people show up in large numbers, and the key is, now we need to do that for all of America. So I just want to encourage the folks that came out on August 2nd to come back out on November 8th.”
Early voting is underway in many counties across Kansas. For voter information, visit sos.ks.gov.
