Tis the season for Missouri Southern State's annual A Seasonal Choral Flourish. Join MSSU for timeless Christmas carols that narrate the characters of the Christmas story. The Southeast Kansas Humane Society is holding its fall bake sale on November 22nd. It will go from 10 am to 4 pm at the Meadowbrook Mall in Pittsburg. All proceeds will benefit the animals at the humane society’s shelter. Click here to learn more.

November 23rd, the Pittsburg Ministerial Alliance is holding its annual Thanksgiving service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. That starts at 4 pm and will be followed by refreshments and fellowship.

And November 24th through 28th, sign your kids up for Camp Now and Then while they're out of school. That’s at the Lincoln Center from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm each day. More information can be found on the City of Pittsburg’s website.

November 21st and 22nd, see Ballet Arkansas’s “Magic of the Nutcracker” at the Cornell Complex in Joplin. The show will start at 7pm the 21st and 2pm the 22nd. Ticket information can be found on connect2culture.org.

Also November 22nd is a Lego Swap and Shop at the Joplin History and Miner Museum. From 10 am to 3 pm, meet Lego Master Tim Hutchins and shop various sets, keychains, minifigures and more.

And November 25th, the Joplin Public Library is hosting another Adulting 101 program. Teens are invited to hear from Sandy Anker with the Youth Volunteer Corps about giving back to the community. That will start at 6 pm.

Raegan Neufeld is a host and reporter for KRPS. Her love for learning and connecting with interesting people led her to a career in journalism, where she aims to tell impactful stories. Originally from south central Kansas, Raegan attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in December 2024.
Since 2017 Fred Fletcher-Fierro has driven up Highway 171 through thunderstorms, downpours, snow, and ice storms to host KRPS’s Morning Edition. He’s also a daily reporter for the station, covering city government, elections, public safety, arts, entertainment, culture, sports and more. Fred has also spearheaded and overseen a sea change in programming for KRPS from a legacy classical station to one that airs a balance of classical, news, jazz, and cultural programming that better reflects the diverse audience of the Four States. For over two months in the fall of 2022 he worked remotely with NPR staff to relaunch krps.org to an NPR style news and information website.

In the fall of 2023 Fred was promoted to Interim General Manager and was appointed GM in Feburary of 2024.
