While driving down an East Texas country road I spotted this scene. The autumn trees and the late afternoon sun made these golden bales of hay shine just a little bit more. Fortunately I had my camera with me. (c) James Q. Eddy Jr.

Don't blink, or you might have missed the Pittsburg City Commission meeting Tuesday night

Pittsburg, KS City Hall
Pittsburg, KS City Hall

City council meetings get a bad rap for lasting hours and hours with numerous agenda items. That was not the case in Pittsburg, Kansas, Tuesday night, where the council adjourned for fewer than 10 minutes. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Brief, succinct, short, call it what you will, Pittsburg's bi-weekly city commission Tuesday night from start to finish lasted about 8 minutes. During the meeting, the council approved a Conditional Use Permit for a new church at 1511 North Broadway in Pittsburg.

Also, Mayor Ronald Seglie announced plans for a citywide meeting next month, ahead of a citywide event that will take place this spring in collaboration with Pittsburg State. Mayor Seglie speaking Tuesday night,

"We are planning a date for a town meeting to begin a clean up of the city. At the town meeting, we wish to have anybody from any organization whose interested in showing up to give us a hand to give us ideas to make a plan to do so. We're looking at the date of April 1."

The date has yet to be set for the town meeting in February. The next meeting of the Pittsburg City Commission is Tuesday, January 24, at 5:30 pm. For 89 9 KRPS News, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro
