While driving down an East Texas country road I spotted this scene. The autumn trees and the late afternoon sun made these golden bales of hay shine just a little bit more. Fortunately I had my camera with me. (c) James Q. Eddy Jr.

Imagine Pittsburg looks towards the future, starting with online survey launching next week

IP highlights $81 million dollars worth of investment from Pittsburg State Univeristy projects, including Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, Plaster Indoor Event Center and Block 22

Officials from Imagine Pittsburg, a grassroots, citizen-driven effort to strategically address the city's opportunities and challenges, provided an update on their organization's actions Tuesday night at the meeting of the Pittsburg City Commission. KRPS's Fred fletcher-Fierro has more.

First established in 2010 by members of the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, Imagine Pittsbug laid out its first plan to address six areas of concern in the community two years later. The core focus areas are Economic Development, Education, Housing, Infrastructure, Marketing, and Public Wellness.

The organization is preparing to launch its third phase next week. The out-going Chairman of Imagine Pittsburg, Joe Dellasega, says that it's taken support from all over the community to continue to make Imagine Pittsburg a success.

"IP 2030 is a process, and the committee that's taking care of that are stewards of that plan. But really, the people that are implementing IP 2030 are our businesses, and our nonprofits and the city and the university, everybody that's doing things and operating in Pittsburg, that's how the plan is getting implemented."

Imagine Pittsburg 2030 will launch an online survey for residents next Wednesday, February 1st that will be available for the entire month with the results unveiled in March. For 89 KRPS News, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro
