While driving down an East Texas country road I spotted this scene. The autumn trees and the late afternoon sun made these golden bales of hay shine just a little bit more. Fortunately I had my camera with me. (c) James Q. Eddy Jr.

Pittsburg State Men’s basketball is projected to finish in 11th place this upcoming season, while the PSU Women's BB team is forecast to finish 3rd. PSU men finished the 2022-2023 campaign in 13th place with an overall record of 8 and 20. While the Lady Gorillas wrapped up last year's campaign in 4th place with an overall record of 23 and 8.

Pittsburg State men’s and women’s basketball tips off of their 2023-2024 seasons next month.

The MIAA held their media day Tuesday in Kansas City to highlight the start of the upcoming season.

KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Coaches and media polls were also released Tuesday and Northwest Missouri were selected to take home the MIAA regular season title for the tenth consecutive season.

The Bearcats captured the 2022-23 regular season title with an impressive 20-2 league record.

While the Pittsburg State men’s team was selected to finish in 11th place in both the media and coaches polls. The Gorillas finished in 13th place in the MIAA last season.

In the women’s MIAA preseason polls, the Central Missouri Jennie returns as the favorites for the 2023-24 season after going 25-5 overall last season and finishing second in the league with a conference record of 19-3.

Pittsburg State women’s basketball is projected to finish third according to both coaches and media polls.

Head coach Amadna Davied speaking Tuesday says the Lady Gorillas did a lot of things right last season but there is one area they could improve on.

“I’m excited about new things we’re working on, and we’re really working on our defense. If you look we were first in the league in scoring, first in free throws, first in rebounding but we were 11th in defense and so, that can’t make you feel really great about that, so the only way to go is up.”

Pitt State men’s and women’s basketball tip off their season on Friday, November 10.
