The Lady Gorillas are in a three-way tie for second place in the MIAA with Northwest Missouri and Fort Hays State at 3 and 1. Central Missouri and Emporia State lead the conference at 3 - 0.

Pittsburg State University junior guard Grace Pyle was named the MIAA Player of the Week for women's basketball Monday after breaking a record over the weekend that stood for 39-years.

The McPherson, Kan., native Grace Pile poured in a school record 41 points - on 16-for-23 shooting and 8-for-13 from 3-point range - in the Gorillas 75-66 win over the University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday.

Pyle’s scoring outburst landed her in a tie for 10th place on the MIAA's single-game scoring chart and her eight three-pointers put her in a tie for the fourth-best single-game total in Pittsburg State women's basketball history. Pyle also logged her fourth career double-double against Newman last Friday, posting 17 points and 11 rebounds in Pitt State's lopsided 92-43 win.

Speaking Monday night on ESPN Radio 100.7 FM PSU Head Women’s basketball coach Amanda David spoke about her team's perseverance so far this season.

“At this point we’re ready again, it’s kind of felt that way when we played Arkansas Tech we were ready for that type of a tougher matchup, and then Henderson State, and then you know Western, we’re ready for this again.

I feel like we’ve got a couple of wins and we’re getting our confidence back.”

Pitt State women’s basketball is now 8 and 1 overall on the season.

The Lady Gorillas will travel to Warrensburg, Missouri to take on Central Missouri on Saturday, before traveling to Jefferson City on Monday to play Lincoln.
