Election day is now just a week away, and the race for Kansas Attorney General is the tightest it has been in years. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro tells us that the contest pits two Chris against each other, with very different backgrounds.
It's been 15 years since Kansas elected a Democratic Attorney General. The last was Paul Morrison in 2007, who resigned the following year after it was revealed that he was having an extramarital affair.
Attorney Stephen Six was appointed AG by former Governor Kathleen Sibelius for the remainder of Morrison's term. This year, Republican Kris Kobach and Democrat Chris Mann are squaring off in one of the country's most hotly contested AG races.
Mann says if elected, he'll work across party lines to ensure free and fair elections in Kansas.
"When I'm elected Attorney General, I will work with people no matter what party they represent, Republicans and Democrats; we all agree that we need safe and fair elections. If there is fraud that occurs, I would certainly prosecute it, but I'm not going to be taking headlines."
The traditionally Republican-leaning Kansas Livestock Association has endorsed Mann for Kansas AG. The final day to vote is November 8.
