No. 3 seed Gorillas travel to Michigan to take on No 2. seed Bulldogs in first-ever matchup

Pittsburg State football took care of the University of Indianapolis Saturday to move on to the second round of the NCAA Division II football playoffs. Head Coach Brian Wright spoke about the victory on Monday. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The Gorillas got out to an early lead of 7-0, with a 97-yard kickoff return by Kolbe Katsis on the game's opening play, Pittsburg State dominated nearly every facet of the game.

They lead in first downs with 19,passing yards with 275, and total yards with 311, en route to a 35-0 victory. Head Coach Brian Wright, speaking on 100.7 FM ESPN Radio Monday night, praised his players for having the right mindset prior to the game.

"You know, our guys came out of the locker room ready to go. Ready to get after somebody, play really aggressive, and that's what I'm proud of. Our guys are not holding anything back. They're having a lot of fun playing together, and it's a lot of fun to be around."

The No. 3 seed Gorillas will have their hands full on Saturday, taking on the No 2. seed and defending Division II National Champion Ferris State Bulldogs in Big Rapids, Michigan.

The Bulldogs are 10-1 on the season, while the Gorillas are 12-0. The game is first in football between the two teams.Kickoff Saturday at noon.
