Earlier this week, Casey's, the gas station known for its pizza and donuts, released third-quarter results, which yielded mixed results. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
The company, which operates over 2,400 stores in 16 states and territories throughout the US, including 323 in Missouri, announced in an earnings report third quarter-to-date performance remained consistent with expectations for 2022.
Also, that same-store inside sales for the third quarter were in the lower half of the annual range, between a 5-7% increase. In contrast, same-store fuel gallons for the quarter were near the low end of the yearly capacity of a flat to 2% increase. In addition, third quarter-to-date fuel margins were similar to the company's reported second-quarter fuel margins last year. Casey's total operating expense growth is expected to be near the low end of the annual range of a 9-10% increase.
Founded in 1967, Casey's has grown to become the third-largest convenience store retailer and the fifth-largest pizza chain in the United States. The chain operates numerous warehouses throughout the midwest, including Joplin. For 89 9 KRPS, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro
