While driving down an East Texas country road I spotted this scene. The autumn trees and the late afternoon sun made these golden bales of hay shine just a little bit more. Fortunately I had my camera with me. (c) James Q. Eddy Jr.

A full agenda tonight for Webb City's first council meeting of 2023

The Webb City city council adjourns tonight for their first meeting of 2023 with several items on the agenda. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The council will receive updates on projects throughout Webb City, including the low water pressure reported by several residents just days before Christmas.

Initially, city staff thought there might be a substantial leak causing the decline in pressure. The problem was determined to be a faulty sensor in the water tower that signaled water pressure was low when it was normal.
Later this year, in time for Spring, Webb City city staff is working on a plan to install a retractable cover over the amphitheater at King Jack Park. It's likely council members will vote on a proposal next month.

Also, in the coming months, Webb City will likely upgrade and update its website so that online bill pay and permit applications are available.

Finally, the Webb City State of the City will be held next Tuesday, January 17th, at Granny Shaffers on Madison Ave. City staff and the Mayor will be addressing the members of the Webb City Chamber of Commerce. The event will start at 7:30 am; everyone is welcome to attend!

Tonight's Webb City council meeting gets underway at 5:30. For 89 9 KRPS News, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro.

For over two months in the fall of 2022 he worked remotely with NPR staff to relaunch krps.org to an NPR style news and information website.

In the fall of 2023 Fred was promoted to Interim General Manager and was appointed GM in Feburary of 2024.
