ArtCon in Neosho returns for its 5th year next month

A hallmark of winter in southwest Missouri returns for its 5th year in February. ArtCon 2023. KRPS's Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The one-day event, taking place Saturday, February 4, hosted by theNeosho Arts Council at Neosho Junior High School, attracts visitors to southwest Missouri from as far away as Texas, St. Louis, and Kansas City.

Rather than focus on one theme or genre, ArtCon casts a wide net in who might attend and guest speakers. From comics to Sci-Fi, Anime, E-Sports, Cosplay, and more, Executive Director of the Neosho Arts Council Sarah Serio says there's something for everybody.

"We have a lot going on this year. We have a great lineup of guests, including Madeline Morris, who is an anime voice actress. And Tessa Monsi, who you'll from Shadow Hunters. Along with a great lineup of professional comic book artists."

ArtCon 2023 also features a Smash Brothers Tournament, a cosplay contest, and an area to play board games and meet new people. Admission is five dollars for people five and older. For 89 9 KRPS News, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro

For over two months in the fall of 2022 he worked remotely with NPR staff to relaunch krps.org to an NPR style news and information website.

In the fall of 2023 Fred was promoted to Interim General Manager and was appointed GM in Feburary of 2024.
