During its 5 year run ArtCon hosted by the Neosho Arts Council the first Saturday in February has experienced it all. First in 2019, establishing the one day event in southwest Missouri that celebrates everything from comics, to anime and cosplay and more.
To take the largest fundraiser for the art focused non-profit completely virtual two years ago during the pandemic. For the second year in a row, ArtCon is in person at Neosho Junior High School. Executive Director of the Neosho Arts Council Sarah Serio says the growth of ArtCon is due to community support.
“We were really grateful to the community coming out in such force the first year, and then, growing the second year. We had to go virtual the third year, so it was kind of like we didn’t have one. And then we started over to build last year, and it was kind of a restart.” T
his year’s ArtCon lineup includes voice actor Madeline Morris, Shadow Hunter Actress Tessa Mossey and comic book artist and writer Collin Bunn. Admission is only five dollars for people five years and older. ArtCon 2023 takes place Saturday February 4.
