Fall is Here, Now the Wait Begins for the Neosho Fall Festival

Ahead of the start of the Neosho Fall Festival, Lions International will hold their annual pancake, biscuit, and gravy breakfast from 7 to 10 am. Admission is five dollars with the proceeds going to purchase eyeglasses for kids in need.

Fall is finally here, and with it festival season, including in Neosho next weekend.

KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

While highs will be near 90 today throughout southwest Missouri, cool crisp mornings, longer nights, and the beauty of fall are on the horizon and the essence of the season will take place on the square in Neosho next Saturday, October 7.

According to the city of Neosho which organizes the event, they’ve booked about 190 merchants, food vendors, organizations, and even three amusement companies to take part.

That’s in addition to eight bands and performers on the main stage. Sarah Serio, Executive Director of the Neosho Arts Council says it wouldn’t be a fall festival without the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest.

“We do have three divisions and every division is going to be given a box of chalk when they enter. And you’re going to enter by stopping by the Arts Council booth at the Fall Festival and we’re going to be on the southwest side of the square.”

Ages 6 to 10 and 11 to 15 are free to enter. 16 years and older are ten dollars.

All the festivities for the Neosho Fall Festival including the chalk contest get underway Saturday, October 7 at 10 am.
