Dallas String Quartet to perform in Joplin

The group will be at the Cornell Complex on February 22, performing their show “Strings Unleashed.” It features a combination of classical and contemporary music, with songs from Bach, Bon Jovi and more.

Ion Zanca, founder and violist of the group, says one of the goals of the show is to revolutionize what the audience knows about string quartets. By playing a medley of classical, pop and rock songs, the group is not only able to appeal to a wider audience, but is also able to express their creativity.

“As a classical musician, a lot of times you're very much stuck in a box and you have to play the greats, like Mozart and Beethoven, which is fun, but it's also fun to explore outside of that,” Zanca told KRPS.

Doors for the show open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the Connect2Culture website, at the box office inside the Cornell Complex or by calling 417-621-9824.
