The First United Methodist Church invites the community to an outdoor worship service in honor of Earth Day. The family friendly service will be held Sunday, April 19 at 10 AM at The Yard (formerly The Greenway) on North Broadway between 2nd and 3rd Streets. It will include a creation care message by Pastor Daniel Reffner and special music for the occasion. Bring lawn chairs and coffee will be provided. In case of rain, the service will be moved to the church at 415 N. Pine. All are invited!

Art in the Park is on Saturday, April 25, 2026 (10 am to 1pm) George Washington Carver had a passion for art. This event features plein air artists, kid-friendly activities, and instructional workshops with pastels, natural dyes, pencil, and more. Children can earn a special Art in the Park Junior Ranger badge. Featured artist/guest speaker, Shay Holloway, “Art Girl Shay” will give a presentation at 11:00 am. The event is free of charge.

Clifton Truman Daniel, the oldest grandson of former President Harry S Truman and first lady Bess Truman, will be in Lamar, Missouri, on Thursday, April 30, to give a presentation about his memories of Harry and Bess.
Meet and Greet with Mr. Daniel, 6 p.m.The event will begin with a meet and greet with Mr. Daniel in the meeting room of the auditorium. Online registration is required for this portion of the event. There is a $10 registration fee. The fee covers admission, one drink and light hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar will be available throughout the meet and greet.
Presentation, 7:15 p.m.Mr. Daniel's presentation will go from 7:15 p.m. till about 8 p.m. Admission to the presentation is free, and there is no registration.
Fireworks Display, after the presentationImmediately after the presentation, there will be a fireworks display outside the auditorium. Admission is free, and there is no registration.

The Ozark Gateway Master Gardener annual plant sale will have healthy plants of all kinds, including vegetable, annual, perennial, native plants. There will also be several quick sessions about various gardening topics. We are a non-profit and all proceeds are put back into our community.
Join us to celebrate the 142nd birthday of our nation’s 33rd president and the only president born in Missouri: Harry S Truman. Activities will include craft and food vendors, wagon rides, reenactments, live music, and kids games and crafts. We will also have a birthday cake for everyone to enjoy.
This event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Truman Day is sponsored by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce.
