#19 Pittsburg State Women’s Basketball Topples 3rd Ranked UCM Jennies

UCM, dropped its second straight game in three days after an 8-0 start to the year, got a game-high 29 points from Olivia Nelson.

Pittsburg State women’s basketball on Saturday won their third straight game after a 20-point comeback.

The Lady Gorillas trailed the third-ranked Central Missouri Jennies, 68-48, with 1:38 left in the third quarter, before engineering a 20-point comeback thanks to a 29-7 run over the next 10 minutes of play.

Pitt State women’s basketball pulled out the victory 101 - 93. It was an extra sweet victory for PSU head women’s coach Amanda Davied who posted her 100th career victory in the contest. She passed her former mentor Steve High for the fastest coach in program history to reach 100 wins as she accomplished the feat in 151 games compared to High's 156 games.

Davied spoke about her team's improvement on the post-game show on 100.7 FM ESPN Radio Saturday.

“Wow, just what an impressive. I was just telling them we weren’t there, two, three weeks ago, we weren’t that tough.

If it got rough we just stopped and so, people on a peg leg out there with Harper’s ankle being tough, making plays, just playing, what she’d play, every minute? Nearly.”

Pitt State women’s basketball is now 9 - 1 overall with a 4-1 MIAA record. PSU basketball hopes to keep their winning streak alive tonight when they take on the Lincoln Blue Tigers in Jefferson City. Game time at 5:30.
