This year the Lady Gorillas extended their streak of at least ten consecutive seasons of earning at least a .500 record in MIAA conference play. The team's worst record over the previous ten year is 11-11 during the 2021-2022 season.

Pittsburg State women’s basketball is two games out of first place in the MIAA with five games in the regular season remaining.

KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Currently in a three-way tie for third place with Fort Hays and Northwest Missouri with a conference record of 12 and 5 the Lady Gorillas have already clinched a seed in the 2024 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship that takes place in three weeks up in Kansas City.

Pitt State women’s basketball currently has the longest winning streak in the MIAA at six. They'll take that streak across the border to Joplin on Saturday to face first-place Missouri Southern who had a league-leading 14-game winning streak earlier his season.

The Lady Gorillas take on both of the MIAA's first-place teams, Missouri Western and Missouri Southern in their final five games of the regular season.

Pitt State play-by-play announcer Eddie Lomsheck Monday speaking with Head Coach Amanda Davied on ESPN Radio 100.7 FM about her team's current success.

“Six games, alright. Ya. Ties a season high when you started season six and oh. Ya, no doubt. Me and Jeff are living it up, up there right now. We say hi to each other and smile. We’ve been having a good time in the offices lately.”

This season PSU Women's basketball has been anchored by two juniors from the Sunflower State. Guard, Grace Pyle from McPherson and Forward Kareena Garber from Halstead both averaging just over 16 points a game.

Game time for the PSU and MSSU is Saturday in Joplin at 1:30.
