The last ten games between the Lady Gorillas and Lady Lions are even at 5-5. Historically, Pittsburg State women’s basketball has dominated Missouri Southern earning a record of 21 and 10. At one point PSU WBB defeated MSSU WBB in seven straight games from January of 2016 to February of 2019.

Pittsburg State women’s basketballtakes their seven-game winning streak on the road this week after defeating Missouri Southern last Saturday.

KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The Lady Gorillas avenged a 71-65 home loss earlier this season to the Lions keeping alive the possibility that the Pitt State women’s basketball has a shot at a regular season MIAA title.

Grace Pyle led a balanced attack on Saturday with 20 points, while Karenna Gerber added 18 and Macie Mayes had 17 points combining for 55 of the team's 77 points.

While the Gorillas defeated the Lions Saturday 77 to 66, the game was closer than it appeared with 16 lead changes and a tie score 12 times.

Head Coach Amanda Davied spoke with play-by-play broadcaster Eddie Lomsheck Monday about her team's victory on Saturday.

“We knew it was an important one. It had a lot riding on it. We tried to not to talk to the players too much about it, but I do think it’s fair that they know cause it would really stink if for some reason you weren’t on your toes and you didn’t realize what you let get away from ya. So I do think we responded really well.”

Pittsburg State women’s basketball will play two games on the road, this Thursday at Fort Hays and on Saturday in Kearney, Nebraska.

Before finishing the regular season at home against Emporia and Missouri Western.
