PSU WBB Seeks to Wrap Up Regular Season on a High Note

Pittsburg State University

The Pittsburg State women's basketball team claimed their 20th win of the season, 85-57 against Nebraska-Kearney from the Health & Sports Center on Saturday, February 24.

This week Pittsburg State women’s basketball plays their final two regular season games seeking to gain momentum before the MIAA Tournament starting March 6.

KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The Lady Gorillas have come a long way since their season-high three-game losing streak in mid-January.

Only one team defeated Pittsburg State twice this season in MIAA play and it’s the squad that’s just ahead of them in the conference standings, Fort Hays State.

However, PSU women’s basketball still has a lot to play for when they host the conference-leading Missouri Western Griffons on Saturday in the regular season finale.

The Griff’s have only lost three conference games this season, one of them a 65 to 56 loss to PSU on the final day of November last year.

Head Coach Amanda Davied spoke about the grind of the season with play-by-play announcer Eddie Lomsheck Monday night on ESPN Radio 100.7 FM in Pittsburg.

“If I were to tell you the truth I would tell you, I’m tired. I said but I can’t be tired like I just can’t be tired. You just keep trucking and you do whatever you got to do. And you go until the job is done.”

The Gorillas are in a tie for third place in the MIAA with records of 14 and 6.

Pitt State will host Emporia State tomorrow night at John Lance Arena. Game time at 5:30.
