The 51st annual Pittsburg State University Jazz Festival is set for March 7. It’s a full day of music that can help cultivate an interest in jazz for high school students, as well as give them the opportunity to hear feedback from judges.

The festival took on its current format in 1974, with 14 high school bands traveling to Pittsburg to perform. This year, over 70 high school bands will perform at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts and Memorial Hall. The day concludes with a concert at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall. The Pittsburg State University Jazz Ensemble will open the concert, followed by this year’s featured artist, The Yellowjackets. More information about ticket availability and prices can be found here.
