Pittsburg State football’s season ended Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division II football playoffs in a 17-14 loss to Ferris State. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
Even though the Gorillas ran the gamut, completing a perfect 11-0 MIAA conference schedule and setting a new record for most wins in the conference in the regular season, the Gorillas were ranked behind Ferris State in the NCAA rankings. The Bulldogs, had one loss though forced Pittsburg State to go on the road for their first playoff game in eight years.
