KCU Joplin

Thursday May 22 was the 14th Anniversary of the E-5 tornado that devastated Joplin, Missouri and claimed the lives of 158 people. Michael Weaver was a resident in Joplin at the time and a prospective medical student. KRPS's Rachel Schnelle spoke with him about how the tornado impacted his personal and professional life.

The team-building event simulated what it would be like to treat patients after a devastating earthquake. Victims included an expecting mom, patients who were unconscious and required carrying on a stretch, to those who had broken legs and needed help walking.
